Your wage is a political decision

There are 100,000 primary care physicians in the United States and this number is fixed by law. This is pretty wild since the population of the United States has dramatically increased since the law limiting the number of physicians was instituted in the 70's. It raises the pay of physicians and is why American doctors make so much more than their foreign counterparts. 

The wages of truckers have been reduced by immigration policy. Trucking used to be one of the most highly paid positions. If illegal immigrants were not allowed to compete with truckers those wages would undoubtedly rise, and other things could also be done to raise wages.

If Walmart were not subsidized by having a free highway system it would not be profitable to have a megastore this sells a variety of goods. The end of Walmart and other supermarkets would bring back the grocer, the baker, the butcher, and so forth. If supermarkets were not even legal then all those middle class small businesses would return. If supermarkets were worker owned they might also support a middle class wage.

Programmers are currently some of the highest paid professionals. If the market was flooded with more of them their wages would crash. If learning a computer language was a requirement in high school their wages would crash. In European countries (where college degrees are free of charge) those with college degrees do not make middle class wages. Programmers in Europe do not make significantly more than other professions. 

Because of immigration policy a union carpenter job no longer competes with underpaid immigrant labor.

Those who we're alive when NAFTA was passed into law remember that before free trade wages were higher.

COVID lockdowns were used to destroy small businesses. Outsourcing jobs to India was used to suppress the wages of call center workers.

Do you need more examples? All wages in every industry are the result of political decisions. I have heard billionaires complain about a "shortage" of qualified programmers. One man shortage is another man's middle class existence. "Shortage" is a point of view. Every middle class job only pays well because the market has not yet figured out a way to increase the supply. There is some thing, maybe it's training, maybe it's the dangerous nature of the work, or maybe it's the cognitive skill involved in doing the job, but there is something keeping the wage of that job high and politics always plays a part.

If you seriously buy into the concept of a free market then you are a fool, because those who govern you care nothing about the freedom of the market even while they say they do out of one side of their mouth. They are sharks and will say anything and they have to to convince you to support the policies that enrich them. While you are ringing your hands over what is free and fair, battling with your conscience or quoting dogma about free markets they are working tirelessly to lower your wage and raise their profits. 

You should not care if the market is free. You are probably working or middle class and all that should matter to you is increasing your pay at the expense of the ultra wealthy, because all they care about is increasing their profits at your expense. You should care about your own financial interests and stop quoting libertarian dogma. All ideology is a weapon and if you subscribe to any weapon that does not serve you then you are doing it wrong.
